Don't light the match just yet....I don't know your principal but if he/she speaks African American English, is/are are interchangable in some situations. I'll check my files when I get to the office.

This is so funny to me ... We are required to have a classroom motto that we say in unison at the beginning and end of each period. Mine is "Language is Power" but I'm sure if my principal had crafted it, he would have said it the same way yours did.
